Ginger Bread on Xperia X10 is anticipated to focus on trade versions of the software. We may expect both the functionality of Android 2.3.3 as well as Sony Ericsson specific User Experience and features.

Android 2.3.3 on XperiaTM X10 Features

  • Android Standard Camera User Interface but neglects face recognition and smile shutter features.
  • Ginger Bread Native EAS for Moxier
  • Media experience widgets and music player for Mediascape
  • No DRM keys for phone content protection
  • Native Sony Ericsson Backup and Restore client will be lost on update
  • Support for Bi-directional languages diminishes when compared to the 2.1 version of the Xperia X10.

The upgrade can be accessed by PC-based upgrade clients only and not by Air. And the main thing is there is no downgrading. i.e if you are not satisfied with Android 2.3.3 you cannot step back to 2.1. Integrate third party application for data back-up since you may lost it on new upgrade process.(Read More:Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 to get Gingerbread in August?)

But the content store on memory card is not affected except DRM protected content. Sony Ericsson has posted that they are keen about Ginger Bread and that inception made them to surpass 2.2. Hope, this might be the last upgrade to Xperia X10 as per source.
The Xperia PLAY, arc, neo and pro are launched on the latest version of Android for smartphones (Gingerbread 2.3) and they plan to upgrade these to the next version of Android (beyond 2.3).

RIM unveils BBM 6 Apps for Shared Community

Research In Motion today announced the availability of BBM version 6 (BBM 6), which provides support for "BBM connected" apps, allowing users to easily interact with each other from within the BBM connected app.

BBM connected apps integrate the popular functionality of the BBM service and offer users the ability to interact with their friends from within the app itself. For example, with a BBM connected game app, users can invite their BBM friends to join them in a game and then chat with one another in real time while the game is being played – without ever leaving the game app.

BBM 6 launches today and a selection of BBM connected apps are already available on BlackBerry App World.(Read More:RIM embeds its BBM chat in work and play apps)

“BBM 6 marks the beginning of an even greater social experience for BlackBerry smartphone users,” said Alistair Mitchell, VP, BBM Platform & Integrated Services at Research In Motion. “It also represents an incredible opportunity for developers to leverage the viral nature of the BBM service and we have already begun working with various developer partners who will be bringing their BBM connected apps to BlackBerry App World this week, offering users highly engaging app experiences.”

Some of the additional functionality users can expect to see with BBM connected applications include the ability to:

• Share app experiences with friends - When a user discovers a great new BBM connected app, they can instantly let their friends know about it. Users can simply select a BBM contact directly within the BBM connected app they are using.
• Have a BBM chat within apps - Users can simply pull up their BBM contact list directly from within the BBM connected app and start chatting.  For example, the functionality can enable everything from enhanced social game play to collaboration through productivity apps.
• Discover apps through friends – Users can also discover new apps by viewing the list of apps that are posted to a BBM friend’s profile. They can also click on an app within the list, and instantly download it from BlackBerry App World.
The BBM 6 software will be available later today at A selection of BBM connected apps will also be posted on BlackBerry App World this week, with many more expected over the coming months.

RIM embeds its BBM chat in work and play apps

Research In Motion wants software developers to use its popular instant messaging tool within their applications to enable friends to play games, share and discuss news, and decide where they will eat dinner.
Describing BlackBerry Messenger -- widely known as BBM -- as one of the world's largest mobile social networks, RIM on Thursday took the covers off an update that it hopes will prod more developers to write code for its devices.

The company's BlackBerry App World pales in comparison with those for Apple and Google, which garner much more interest from independent developers.

Some 45 million people use BBM -- which allows BlackBerry users with data plans to instantly pass text messages, pictures and other files without incurring charges from their network carrier -- and 70 percent of them use it daily.

"That lends itself to a different type of experience," said Alistair Mitchell, RIM's vice president for the BBM platform and integrated services. "We're trying to transpose that so it's available to our third-party developers globally."

RIM's director of developer relations, Mike Kirkup, said the simplest use of the updated BBM tool would require just three lines of code while developers could, with a bit more work, choose to route all their traffic through RIM's servers.

Kirkup said developers that integrate BBM could expect existing users to spend more time on the app and for it to encourage more viral distribution.

"For every developer, getting people into your app more and getting more people to find your app are the two major problems they stay awake thinking about every single day," he said.
Among the apps making first use of BBM integration are location services Foursquare and Poynt, news website Huffington Post and augmented reality browser Wikitude.

"This is a good transition for the company but it's not without competition from competitors big and small," said Josh Martin, an analyst of apps at Strategy Analytics.

Online social network Facebook boosts more than half a billion users. Google, whose Android software for smartphones has stolen share from BlackBerry, quickly garnered a huge following with its Google+ social product launched last month and offers its own Google Talk chat application.

And Apple will soon launch iMessage, a tool similar to BBM for use on iPhones, iPads and some iPods.
"Is the next BBM alone the answer -- certainly not -- but taken with other offerings it could create the foundation for an improved experience," Mitchell said.

RIM bought social gaming company Scoreloop in June to help it expand Messenger and enable more interaction in existing mobile games.

Facebook "Expected:Child" Status for Pregnant Woman to Make Public

The social networking site Facebook values emotions and has unleashed a new option for pregnant woman to set their status as "Expected: Child" to their profiles. Google+ move has made this SNS to think ahead and incorporate new stuff to retain their followers.

With this option one may share her due date and even the chosen baby names. This is a simple way to propagate that they are pregnant to their family, well-wishers and friends list.Facebook has initiated the option of adding Family Members on Account last December.

Then recently announce exclusive business page to improve the life-style of growing business sectors. But this "Expected:Child" option enable them to share without creating any pages. They could simply edit their profile settings and choose "Expected:Child" to share their joyous moments.(Read More:Facebook Business Page, A New Social Media Marketing Tool)

Some may feel this is absurd and akward to share but it is definitely a boon for persons who are lazy enough to convey this face-to-face and by phone calls. Any how this would help for statistical persons to approximate the expected population in near future.

But to be honest technology has ruined our innate emotions and made it virtual.

Edelman BlogLevel and TweetLevel to Know Social Media 'Influentials'

Edelman, the globally recognized PR firm has launched a spectacular communication platform for absolutely free. The BlogLevel and version of 2.0 TweetLevel rock as influential tools and pointout who is influential on a particular topic, on a designated platform.

They are based on  original TweetLevel which MTV used to select its first “Twitter Jockey,” dubbed one of the top Twitter moments of 2010.

The influentials for TweetLevel and BlogLevel are found in Twitter and Blog space respectively. These tools are built on proprietary algorithms using 40 dissimilar metric to trace and score bloggers and tweeters of different nations and language.

The influential tools project the people who scored highest for their best  initiative ideas and the persons who amplifies it and getting substantial followers.TweetLevel and BlogLevel have already undergone Beta-testing by more than 400 people of various profession including journalists, professors, industry analysts, marketing professionals, journalists and brand marketer.

They have implented the tools to track the,
  • the most relevant and influential users on various topics
  • the amount of buzz and noise around a specific area
  • the dialogues people are having and the links they’re sharing
  • what any given tweeter or blogger is discussing, influencing and being influenced by
It is a progress for blogging concept as discussed by  onny Bentwood, director and head of influencer engagement, Edelman UK, led the development of both tools and explains how the tools differ from others designed to track influence: “Most of the other tools that are out there focus exclusively on Twitter and Facebook profiles and ignore other online activities like blogging.   With BlogLevel and TweetLevel, we can consider influence more holistically.  For example, it’s clear that blogs are more influential when their content is search-optimized and discussed in social media channels like Twitter, so those are metrics we’ve built into BlogLevel.”

These tools would definitely enables to run effective campaigns and to produce more intelligent reports for clients by knowing the exact thread-starter(influencer) and influentials.

Distinct Features of BlogLevel and TweetLevel

  • Distinct metrics for “idea starters” vs. “amplifiers”: BlogLevel and TweetLevel distinguish between people who are “idea starters”– the people who originate ideas or are first to surface news – and the “amplifiers”’ who spread other peoples’ ideas. Both are influential, but BlogLevel and TweetLevel recognize and emphasize their influence differently.
  • BlogLevel algorithm considers the discussions on other social media platforms and search optimization: Unlike other blog ranking tools, BlogLevel ranks importance by how much a post is discussed on Twitter and how optimized the blog’s content is for search.
  • Broadcast to engagement ratio: TweetLevel places higher rankings on people who engage in conversation and post relevant content as opposed to those who simply post their views.  TweetLevel analyzes every tweet to help communicators match their brands and issues with the right people, increasing the efficiency and relevance of influencer outreach and engagement efforts.

Invent With Nokia is a new initiative that encourages people with great ideas for future products and services to come forward and let us know. If your idea is turned into a patent, then Nokia will pay you for it! Read on to find out how you can participate.

Having a great idea is one thing, but having that idea turned into a reality is often much more difficult, costly and time consuming and so ideas rarely come to fruition. What if you had a great idea for a future device, or a radical new feature or service? Nokia has today launched a new program that allows you to submit your ideas. Invent With Nokia is now open for ideas.

If you have a genuinely useful and innovative idea that could be turned into a product or service by Nokia – whether or not you are a full time inventor – imagine the feeling of having your vision realised by a company such as Nokia that can make it happen. To submit your idea you’ll need to register over at the site and provide us with non-confidential information about your idea or invention.

If your idea is accepted and a patent filed as a result, the financial rewards mean it should definitely be worth giving it a go and there could be further rewards if a product or service based on the invention is successful with consumers. In addition to the monetary rewards, you’ll also take your place in a hall of fame, giving you public recognition for your invention so everybody will know who you are.

While Nokia already has thousands of its own people thinking of new innovative ideas, by opening this initiative up to anyone across the globe means we should see some exciting new concepts. If you’ve got a practical idea, sign up at Invent With Nokia. We look forward to seeing some of these ideas become reality. Just don’t tell us what they are here, yet!
